Flute Flight includes four different flutes: piccolo, concert flute, alto flute, and bass flute. By pairing detailed, high-quality sampling and innovative programming, each of these solo flutes covers a wide range of expression while including plenty of options to tailor the sound and playability of the instruments to your taste. Flute Flight is designed to give you great results playing live from a MIDI keyboard, allowing you to shape the expression of every note and phrase with the mod wheel or a breath controller.
Taking a different approach from our Passion Flute library, which focuses on the raw tone and articulations necessary for jazz and rock flute, Flute Flight is designed to achieve sweet, lyrical phrases and soaring, majestic melodies.
One of the most difficult aspects of sampling wind instruments is capturing their expressive capabilities. There are a myriad of ways to sculpt even a single note. The note attack can be accented and quickly drop to a whisper quiet sustain, or it can begin softly and swell into the note, accompanied by deep vibrato. The problem with simply increasing the number of sampled articulations is that there’s no continuity between them, and your performance ends up sounding like a series of detached articulations strung together. This deficiency is even more audible when it comes to solo instruments, a context where even subtle artifacts are more exposed and apparent.
Thanks to our proprietary phase locking process, Flute Flight gives you a level of expression unattainable with other solo flute sample libraries. This innovative technology allows you to seamlessly morph between dynamics with zero phase cancellation or unwanted chorusing. Furthermore, the legato samples have buttery smooth transitions, letting you move between notes with fluidity and agility.
Flute Flight’s samples were performed by the incredible flutist Mattan Klein and engineered by Mac Ritchey at Possum Hall Recording Studio in Massachusetts.

Flute Flight licenses Native Instruments' Kontakt Player sampler software. Consequently, owning the full version of Kontakt is not necessary, and Flute Flight operates without limitations within the free Kontakt Player application/plugin. This also allows the sample library to be listed in the libraries tab in Kontakt for convenient access.
Flute Flight is NKS-ready. The integration with the Native Kontrol Standard presents many benefits, both when using the library in the Komplete Kontrol software as well as in conjunction with Komplete Kontrol hardware, such as the Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboards and Maschine.
In addition to Flute Flight being displayed in the Native Browser among your other Komplete Kontrol instruments, there are a variety of other benefits. For example, thanks to Native Instruments’ Native Map® technology, you can control the library’s various parameters directly through connected hardware right out of the box. Furthermore, the keyswitches and key ranges are shown using Light Guide, an innovative technology that displays the key colors directly on your Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboard.
We recommend using Flute Flight with a Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboard for the full experience. While not a requirement, you will be able to take advantage of the Native Kontrol Standard for an intuitive connection between software instruments and hardware.
